FAQ
Frequently asked questions
The short version: we place vetted remote finance talent — bookkeeper through CFO — in one to two weeks, at published rates, on month-to-month terms, with a replacement guarantee. Everything else is detail, and it's below.
Everything clients ask us
What exactly does Focused.Financial do?
We place vetted remote finance talent — bookkeepers, staff and senior accountants, fractional controllers, and fractional CFOs — with growing businesses, and production staff with CPA and accounting firms. You get a specific person matched to your needs, not a rotating service team.
How is this different from a freelance marketplace like Upwork or Paro?
On a marketplace, you do the vetting and carry the risk. Here, every candidate has already passed credential verification, a technical assessment, a live case interview, and reference checks before you ever see a name — and every placement carries a replacement guarantee.
How is this different from an outsourced accounting or CFO firm?
A service firm sells you the firm — work is distributed across their team on their schedule. We place a specific person who joins your team, learns your business, and shows up in your meetings. It's the difference between a vendor and a colleague.
Which role do I actually need?
Shorthand: a bookkeeper records what happened, a controller makes sure it's right and on time, a CFO tells you what to do about it. If you're unsure, say so on the intro call — recommending the cheaper right answer is house policy.
What does it cost?
All rates are published on our pricing page: bookkeepers $500–$2,500/month, accountants $30–$65/hour, fractional controllers $2,000–$6,000/month, fractional CFOs $3,000–$15,000/month. Exact quotes come from a 20-minute scoping call.
Are your people US-based or offshore?
The bench is remote-US-first, with vetted nearshore options where budget is the constraint. We'll recommend honestly: client-facing and complex work usually justifies domestic; high-volume production work often doesn't.
How fast can someone start?
One to two weeks from intro call to first day is typical. The vetting is already done — matching and your interviews are all that stand between the call and the start date.
What if the match doesn’t work out?
Tell us. Every engagement carries a replacement guarantee — we re-match you from the bench at no additional cost, for the life of the engagement.
Is there a long-term contract?
No. Engagements are month-to-month after an initial 90-day term.
How do you handle access to our systems and data?
Least-privilege from day one: accountant-level roles in your accounting software, read-only bank feeds rather than credentials, shared password managers, and signed confidentiality agreements. Our placements never need your banking login.
Do you work with accounting firms or just businesses?
Both. For CPA firms we place production bookkeepers, client accounting services staff, and tax-season capacity — seasonal surge or year-round dedicated, integrated into your review workflow and software stack.
Do you do permanent full-time placement?
Yes. Many clients start fractional and convert; direct full-time searches are also available with the placement fee quoted up front.
Tell us what you need. We’ll tell you honestly if we can help.
A 20-minute intro call: your situation, the role that actually fits it, and exact pricing. If you don’t need us yet, we’ll say so.
